The Bethesda-based Somerset Construction has built more than its share of ambitious mixed-use communities, including the Annapolis Junction Town Center in Howard County and Baltimore Crossroads in eastern Baltimore County.
But Somerset COO Neil Greenberg said his proudest achievement is the 1,100-acre Arundel Mills/Arundel Preserve/Villages of Dorchester/Arundel Overlook mixed-use and master-planned community.
“I started on the development of this community in 1994 and have developed over 11 million square feet,” Greenberg said. When finished in a few years, he said, the community will include some 12 million square feet of residences, hotel space and commercial development.
“This community is where you can work, live, play and raise your family in a safe master planned community,” Greenberg said, adding that it is “really a town due to its size and everything that it has to offer.”
Somerset’s partner in the sprawling Arundel Mills community is Southern Management Corp. Based in Vienna, Va., Southern Management is the largest privately owned residential property management company in the mid-Atlantic region, with 75 apartment communities in the Baltimore-Washington region.
Southern Management also owns and manages six commercial properties and four hotels and conference centers in the region.
Somerset and Southern Management partnered on the recently completed Cambria Hotel Arundel Mills.
